"More powerful than a hangover cure..."
It was a nippy Sunday October morning at Burnham Harbor in Chicago, 2012. I was a bachelor living the high life, and had gone a little too hard the night before on my buddy Derek’s boat that was docked there. I was trying to get back on track for a big Bears game at noon.
At this point in my life I had the tolerance of an angry Irish sailor, but felt absolutely miserable. And I can’t remember if somebody recommended it to me, or if I instinctually knew it might fix my dilemma, but I worked up the cojones to jump into Lake Michigan off the pier.
To be clear and direct, this is the absolute worst way to start your cold-exposure IMHO, but holy sh*t did it work like magic. I’d guess the water temp that morning was low-50’s, which is no joke for the uninitiated. When I got back on the dock, I felt absolutely incredible.
It felt like a “Ctrl-Alt-Delete” reboot for my poisoned brain and body, and it was that moment I realized there is a strange sorcery-level power inherent in cold-water immersion.
Years later, after plunging hundreds of times, I can say with authority that there are far more powerful advantages to cold-water immersion than just “hangover recovery.” And after hearing Joe Rogan et al continue to yap about their $15,000 cold-plunges, I felt compelled to build a beautiful in-home unit at a price point that more people can afford. Ice baths and cold showers just aren't the same, let’s be real.
Partnering with my friends Greg (hardwood genius) and Stan (coatings magician), I’m confident we’ve made the best bang-for-your-buck in-home cold-plunge in the entire market with our patent-pending Woodsman.
There’s power in the cold, and we aim to deliver a magical device that your family can take advantage of for decades to come. Please reach out directly if there’s anything we can do to help make that happen.
Best,
